The State Government has reached in-principle agreement with the Public Service Association (PSA) on a new enterprise agreement that will deliver a wage boost to around 30,000 salaried public sector workers.
The SA Public Sector Enterprise Agreement: Salaried covers workers in a wide variety of roles across the public sector including administrative services officers, corrections officers, sheriffs' officers, lawyers, child protection, residential care, housing, youth workers and professional officers.
Highlights of the State Government's new offer include:
- Headline wage increases of 3.75% backdated to 1 August 2025, 3.5% on 1 July 2026, and 3.25% on 1 July 2027.
- An additional $4,000 increase to base wages for historically low paid employees plus further payments to reflect any gap with Award rates.
- A tailored package to support correctional officers.
- Improvements to progression between classifications, and a commitment to review of classification structures during the life of the agreement.
- A guarantee no worker will be paid below the Award rate.
- Improved access to paid parental leave.
Now that in-principle agreement has been reached, the proposed agreement will be put to a ballot of all employees opening on 30 January 2026. If successful, the enterprise agreement will then be lodged with the South Australian Employment Tribunal for approval.
This enterprise agreement is the latest of many successfully negotiated in recent months including ambulance officers, firefighters, allied health workers, doctors, aged care, disability services, early childhood educators, hospital orderlies and sterilisation technicians.
As put by Peter Malinauskas
We are a government committed delivering real wage increases to our hard working public servants, and this offer delivers just that.
I'm very pleased that we have been able to reach agreement with the Public Service Association on the arrangement that would also see extra support for low paid workers.
This is a demonstration of our commitment to good faith bargaining in the interests of all South Australians.

I am pleased that after months of good faith negotiations the State Government has been able to reach an agreement with the Public Service Association that will deliver a wage increases and extra support to low paid workers.
This is a significant improvement on the 1.5% wage increases these workers received from the former Marshall Liberal Government under their last agreement.
Together with other enterprise agreements settled in the last 12 months, this demonstrates the Malinauskas Government's commitment to good faith bargaining which balances fair wage rises for workers with responsible budget management.
