Death - Casuarina Beach

Northern Territory Police have closed public access to Casuarina Beach in the vicinity of the Darwin Surf Life Saving Club after a body was located on the beach this morning.

A man walking his dog found the body shortly before 7am and alerted police.

A crime scene has been declared as police investigate.

Detective A/Senior Sergeant Sonia Kennon said, "The public is asked to avoid the area today to allow investigations to progress.

"The body is that of an Aboriginal man believed to be aged in his mid to late 30s. At this stage we have no further information, but if any member of the public was in the area or has information, or if a friend or family member is unaccounted for, please contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
