Northern Territory Police attended to a report of a drowning which sadly resulted in the death of a 20-month-old child.
Police were called to a residence in the Darwin rural area at around 6:45pm yesterday after the child was located unconscious in a swimming pool.
Family members and emergency services staff attempted to resuscitate the child however were unsuccessful.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
