On March 17, 2019, Vilmos Banga, a patient from the Regional Psychiatric Centre, died while in our custody.
At the time of his death, Mr. Banga, 53 years old, had been serving a sentence of 15 years, which began on January 14, 2005 for Aggravated Sexual Assault, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Extortion.
As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
