Death of toddler, NSW

An investigation is underway after the death of a toddler in the state's Riverina region yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a home in Callaghan Street, Ashmont, just after 10.45am (Sunday 13 January 2019), following reports of concern for the welfare of a 15-month-old boy.

NSW Ambulance paramedics performed CPR at the scene, before taking to the boy to Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital where he was declared deceased.

Officers from Riverina Police District will investigate the circumstances surrounding the boy's death.

A post mortem examination will be conducted to determine cause of death.
