Declutter and save with two waste incentives

Barossa Council

Barossa residents can declutter and save money thanks to two waste disposal incentives.

The Barossa Council will be offering a kerbside collection service and a waste voucher system to eligible residents in coming months, and Mayor Bim Lange hopes the initiatives will encourage people to get rid of their rubbish responsibly.

"Most of us are looking to free up some space around the home, shed or garage, so this is a cost-effective solution that we're proud to offer our community," he said.

Council's hard waste kerbside collection enables people to dispose of up to 2 cubic metres of household hard waste material at their kerbside.

The service will be available to the first 500 residents from Angaston, Eden Valley, Lyndoch, Moculta, Mount Pleasant, Nuriootpa, Penrice, Sandy Creek, Springton, Stockwell, Tanunda and Williamstown.

People can book direct with Solo between 6 March to 17 March, for a collection between 20 March and 14 April.

Accepted materials include furniture (excluding mattresses), white goods including fridges and freezers, electronics such as TVs and computers, carpets, gardening equipment, metal and timber.

People can make a booking directly with Solo Resource Recovery on 8295 5077 or email [email protected]

Meanwhile, rural residents and township residents who don't secure a kerbside collection are eligible for a hard waste and/or green organics waste voucher valued at $75.

Five hundred vouchers will be available commencing 17 April and can be redeemed in May and June at Springton Transfer Station, Eco Waste Solutions, the Yard Clean Up Man and KAND do it.

Vouchers are available for domestic waste only, with a range of waste materials accepted depending on the vendor. Simply call Council on 8563 8444 to secure a voucher for use by 30 June.
