Today, the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence, Chief of Defence Staff General Wayne Eyre, and Deputy Minister of National Defence Bill Matthews will travel to Germany.
On April 26, Minister Anand, General Eyre, and Deputy Minister Matthews will participate in meetings of the Ukraine Defense Consultative Group, hosted by U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III at Ramstein Air Base. These meetings will be an important opportunity for partners and Allies to discuss the current and future defence needs of Ukraine.
Following these meetings, Minister Anand, General Eyre, and Deputy Minister Matthews will travel to Washington, D.C. and joined there by Communications Security Establishment Chief Shelly Bruce. This will be Minister Anand's first official visit to the United States since her appointment as Minister of National Defence.
On April 28, Minister Anand will meet with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III at the Pentagon to discuss the close defence relationship between Canada and the United States, key priorities like the modernization of NORAD and efforts by Canada and the United States to support Ukraine.
