Every day, across Canada and around the world, members of the Defence Team serve with professionalism and dedication in both French and English.
Our two official languages are an integral part of Canada's identity. They reflect our history, our values, and the diversity that makes our country strong. Francophone communities have shaped that heritage in profound ways. We must protect their vitality. Within the Defence Team, bilingualism is an operational strength. It sharpens our ability to lead, work with allies and partners, and deliver on our mission at home and abroad.
Recent changes to language-of-work designations have raised concerns about the place of French in the Canadian Armed Forces. I take these concerns seriously. That is why I have directed a review of language-of-work unit designations across the CAF.
Our people must see this commitment in their everyday experience. We will continue to protect language rights, promote and strengthen French, and build an institution where both official languages thrive.
