Officially opening on High St next Saturday, October 25, Carmen Connell and her talented team behind Dash Cakes are set to delight the Wodonga community with their newest venture.
With strong ties to the region since 2020, Dash has spent the last five years satisfying local cake lovers through its highly successful Dash Espresso Bar + Cake Bites in Albury.
Now, Carmen has expanded her vision to the southern side of the border and is thrilled to broaden her business into Wodonga.
"Wodonga was the perfect next step," Carmen explained. "We needed a production kitchen, and it was the perfect opportunity to bring our products across the border and expand our market."
"Wodonga has changed so much over the years, and it's got a great feel to it. We are really happy with the location and the mix of businesses surrounding us is well suited to our style of business."
With its thriving online ordering business, Dash specialises in custom cakes, cupcakes, desserts and cookies for birthdays, special events and all of life's sweetest celebrations.
"I have always done cakes from home and operated a small business through Facebook (before side hustles were a thing!) and love bringing extra joy to people's special celebrations," shared Carmen.
The custom cake aspect of the business is where Carmen's passion lies, and she is delighted to see her Cake in a Dash range flourish over the last year.
"It's so great for our customers to be able to pop in-store any day and have a selection of great looking and tasty cakes they can choose from for any last-minute occasion.
"We can also customise the range for next day pick-up if orders are placed before 10am."
Carmen manages the kitchen operations and oversees the day-to-day functionality of the business alongside her partner Glenn, who recently joined the team as the business continued to grow.
With a passionate group of full-time and casual staff dedicated to creating a warm and vibrant experience for customers, Carmen looks forward to growing her team at the Wodonga store to deliver the same great service.
"For us, the most rewarding aspect is seeing our customers enjoy what we have created," she shared.
"We get to know our customers and have built relationships over the years. Seeing them come back every day and know our space is a place they can relax and catch up is very rewarding.
"We are definitely looking forward to beginning new relationships in Wodonga and building that feeling over here as well."
Customers can now enjoy the best of both worlds, following the sweet aroma of freshly baked treats and velvety espresso to their nearest Dash.
Located at 88 High St, treat yourself with one of their much-loved, signature iced matcha's and a slice of your favourite cake on your next wander down Wodonga's main street.
"Our matcha drinks are quite a specialty of ours and have become a large part of our business. It's such an amazing product and our customers love it; we can't wait to bring it to Wodonga," Carmen revealed.
The team are also excited to introduce a range of new creations to celebrate a fresh chapter for the business.
"It's been a while since we have been able to work on our product development due to the space restrictions in Albury," Carmen noted.
"We already have quite a few ideas and plans, so there are definitely some exciting new treats being launched with the Wodonga location!"
After their official opening on Saturday, October 25, Dash is set to open from 8am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 12pm on Saturdays, with the team also exploring opportunities for Sunday trading and extended weekday hours to suit local needs.
