Delivering Better Sports Infrastructure Across Wyndham

Wyndham City is kicking goals with a series of sporting infrastructure improvements to ensure our clubs have the facilities they need to play, train and grow.

Construction is now complete on a new cricket synthetic training area with soft netting at Werribee's Chirnside Park, along with brand-new fencing for the turf wicket area and a soft netting flyover at the rear.

These upgrades will provide improved facilities for the Werribee Cricket Club.

Work on the final stage - rebuilding the curator shed - is now underway and is set to be finished in early 2026.

Over in Truganina, we've upgraded the sporting lights at Arndell Park Reserve from halogen to 100-lux LED lighting, making it easier for the host sporting club, Truganina Hornets Soccer Club, to train and play at night.

We've also recently completed a cricket net upgrade at Williams Landing Reserve, replacing the existing soft netting with a durable heavy-duty netting that is designed to withstand high impact and frequent use.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw, said these improvements were part of Council's annual sport facility and outdoor recreation renewal programs, which focus on providing quality sporting facilities for our community.

"We know how important it is to have sporting facilities that keep pace with the needs of our sports clubs, making sure players of all levels can train, compete and thrive," Cr Shaw said.

"These recent upgrades are delivering safer, more durable and more accessible facilities for everyone to enjoy."

"From training under brighter, more reliable lights to enjoying new, durable cricket nets, these upgrades are already making a real difference."

"And there's more to come, with further LED sports field lighting renewals, book-a-court systems, fencing renewals and irrigation improvements in planning."
