Delivering for Canterbury Girls' Secondary College

Liberal Party Victoria

Under a Matt Guy Liberal Government, Canterbury Girls' Secondary College will receive $12.2 million in funding to prepare and deliver a new masterplan for its campus.

The school facilities are dated and impractical, with spaces such as the science and art classrooms no longer supporting the needs of both students and teachers.

A Liberal Government will fund the development of the masterplan, and then deliver the Stage 1 capital works, including new science and art facilities, upgraded and modernised classrooms and new collaborative learning spaces.

Shadow Minister for Education, David Hodgett, said this commitment would deliver the school's first major upgrade for decades.

"After successive years of seeing no capital funding, the building has literally started to crumble, with a wall collapsing as recently as last year."

"The Liberals are committed to providing schools with the necessary support so that they can continue to deliver world-class education."

Liberal Candidate for Kew, Jess Wilson, said as a leader in female education, and one of Victoria's few government girls' schools, Canterbury Girls' Secondary College deserves the appropriate funding to support its students and teachers.

"Our commitment will properly plan and deliver the first stage of the desperately needed campus upgrades, offering modern and fit for purpose facilities, giving the students the very best opportunities."
