Delivering mental health beds

An architect has been selected to manage the reconstruction of the Peacock Centre and they are working closely with experienced health facility planners to design a contemporary mental health facility.

The construction tender will be advertised next year, with building to be completed in 2020.

Completion date information was confirmed in Parliament earlier this week but policy-free opportunist Sarah Lovell simply continues to lie and mislead in order to get a cheap headline.

Work has already been undertaken to remove debris and secure the building.

We are working with the Chief Psychiatrist, who is consulting with clinicians and consumers, to ensure we get this right.

This is part of our $95 million plan to build a better mental health system, which has been welcomed by consumers, experts and key stakeholders.

While Labor is busy misleading the public and playing politics on mental health, the Government is getting on with the job of delivering new mental health beds in Tasmania.
