The Tasmanian Government has delivered a record number of elective surgeries in a financial year, for the third year in a row.
Data shows 22,392 elective surgeries were performed from July 2024 to June 2025 – more than 61 surgeries every single day.
Liberal Member for Bass, Bridget Archer, said she was excited to build on the significant achievements of Jacquie Petrusma in the health portfolio.
"The Government's strong focus on healthcare is clearly paying off," Ms Archer said.
"Through significant investment and a clinician-led approach, we are delivering 61 elective surgeries every single day in Tasmania.
"I am looking forward to getting my feet under the desk, and building on the important work underway to ensure Tasmanian families and communities get the healthcare they need, sooner.
"I'd like to thank our hardworking doctors, nurses, paramedics and allied health professionals for their important work caring for our community."
Tasmania's elective surgery waiting list also continues to decrease, with almost 36 per cent less than the COVID-driven peak of 12,286 in January 2021.
This is being driven by our Statewide Elective Surgery Four-Year Plan 2021-25, and we will continue this momentum through our new $70 million Elective Surgery Four-Year Plan 2025-2029, to ensure more Tasmanians receive their elective surgery, sooner.
