Dendy Street Beach: Southern Terrace Upgrades

Council is continuing to upgrade Bayside's beachside facilities enhance the visitor experience for all users. With recent upgrades at Ricketts Point and Half Moon Bay, we're now rebuilding the Southern Terrace toilet and shower facilities on the southern end of Dendy Street Beach, opposite Norwood Avenue, Brighton.

Aligning with the Bayside Public Toilet Strategy, the 2024/25 Annual Budget and the Dendy Street Beach Masterplan, the modern upgrade incorporates environmentally sustainable features with the design complimenting the surrounding environment.

The improved facilities feature 8 new toilets, including an accessible toilet, a dedicated male and female ambulant cubicle and 5 all gender cubicles, 4 showers, bike racks, drinking tap with drink bottle filler, seating, landscaping, and lighting improvements.

Demolition and construction works are commencing Monday, 30 June, and will take up to 4-months (weather permitting). During the upgrade, temporary toilets are available near the works area. Throughout the project, we anticipate some restricted access to the Bay Trail and some disruption to Esplanade traffic. Traffic management will assist road and trail users to help minimise the impact of these closures.
