Deprivation of liberty and assault, Raceview

Detectives are investigating after a man and woman were held against their will and seriously assaulted at Ripley early this morning.

Preliminary information suggests sometime between midnight and 3am unknown people gained entry to a Huxam Street address, tied up the 55-year-old man and 39-year-old woman and taped their mouths closed.

The man was then assaulted before the pair were taken to an address in Ripley and released.

The woman called for help and police attended the scene where they located the man with serious injuries. He was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital for further treatment.

Crimes scenes have been established in both Raceview and Ripley.

Investigations are continuing.
