Deputy Commissioner Linda Williams Secures Five More Years

South Australia Police are pleased to announce Linda Williams, who has been in the role of Deputy Commissioner of South Australia Police since May 2015, has today been extended in the role for a further 5 years.

Ms Williams became the highest ever ranked female officer in SAPOL when she was promoted to Deputy Commissioner in 2015.

Commissioner Grant Stevens was among the first to congratulate Ms Williams on her re-appointment.

"Throughout her career Linda has displayed a commitment to service excellence and that translates into improved community confidence and enhanced public safety".

"Linda has provided key leadership and guidance over the last few years particularly during the COVID response and the River Murray Flood emergency. She has developed and implemented a number of important strategic initiatives for the organisation during her tenure as Deputy Commissioner of South Australia Police".

"I have no doubt she will continue to support and work collaboratively with myself and other members of the Executive Leadership Team, on key strategic issues the organisation faces" he said.

"Linda has been in this role for 8 years now, and I have no doubt that she is the right person to continue in this role, and will continue to provide a high level of service to the South Australian Community" Mr Stevens said.

Ms Williams said she was thankful to the South Australian Government for showing their faith and trust in her in continuing in the challenging role".

"I'm proud to continue in the role as Deputy Commissioner of South Australia Police, and will continue to work with the community and the staff of SA Police, to ensure that the organisation continues to provide safer communities for all South Australians"

"Thank you to my husband, family and peers for their continuing support which has enabled me to continue in this role" she said.
