Corporations and companies wanting to tap into a wider pool of skilled workers and lower their operating costs will be able to benefit from expert NSW Government advice about setting up shop in regional NSW.
Deputy Premier John Barilaro today announced a new NSW Government concierge service to help companies develop business plans and provide practical advice about establishing jobs, offices and headquarters in regional towns and cities.
Mr Barilaro said the NSW Government has led the way announcing public sector jobs will be advertised statewide with ‘regional location encouraged’ and now he is calling on big business to follow suit.
“One of the principles of good business is ‘location, location, location’, but in the COVID world the secret to success is relocation, relocation, relocation, to regional NSW, giving companies access to a wider field of skilled workers and reduced operating costs,” Mr Barilaro said.
“This month the NSW Government launched the 20-Year Economic Vision for regional NSW, and announced that public sector jobs will now be advertised in every corner of the state and I am calling on corporates to share in the benefits by establishing themselves in rural towns.
“The new Department of Regional NSW concierge service will provide companies considering relocating with the benefit of expert local advice, recommend ideally suited towns, identify available office space and support the development of business plans that capitalise on the advantages of setting up in the bush.
“Regional NSW is ideally suited for large banks, finance, technology and telecommunication companies considering long-term plans for their workforce.
“Thousands of workers and the advanced manufacturing industry already know regional cities and towns are NSW’s best kept secret, with a more relaxed lifestyle, shorter commuting times, wide open spaces and cheaper property prices.
“This is about building a safer and stronger regional NSW, creating jobs for locals and enabling big business and corporates to flourish in the regions.”
The NSW Government launched the $100m Regional Job Creation Fund in October last year to provide businesses with the money they need to fast track relocation and expansion plans into regional NSW, to create jobs and stimulate the local economy.
Further details about the new concierge service will be announced soon.
