Detectives arrest a man after an attempted carjacking in Bundoora

Mill Park Serious Crime Taskforce detectives have arrested a man following an attempted aggravated carjacking in Bundoora yesterday morning (24 April).

Investigators have been told two males approached the victim while he was washing his car on Sanctuary Drive about 9.20am.

It's alleged one of the men demanded the victim's car keys and assaulted him with a pole when he refused.

Both males then took off in a dark-grey hatchback.

The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

About 4.40pm detectives from Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit sighted the hatchback travelling through the Western suburbs.

The car was intercepted a short time later and a man was arrested.

A 21-year-old man from Prahran was charged with attempted aggravated carjacking, attempted burglary, theft of motor vehicle, theft, criminal damage, handle-stolen goods and other community corrections order related offences.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrate's Court today.

A 15-year-old girl from Heidelberg West was also arrested at the scene.

She was charged with unrelated offences and remanded to appear in court at a later date.

The second male involved in the attempted carjacking is yet to be spoken to by police.
