A man will face court today charged with firearm-related offences following an investigation into the activities of an alleged criminal syndicate operating across Sydney.
Last year, detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad uncovered a sophisticated criminal network involved in large-scale drug and firearm supply operating out of Sydney's south-west, as part of investigations into unsolved serious and organised crimes across NSW.
So far during the investigation, two men – aged 38 and 35 – were arrested. They were both charged and remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, investigators arrested a 46-year-old man at a correctional centre on the state's South Coast on Wednesday 4 November 2020.
He was charged with three counts of supply prohibited firearm to unauthorised person, three counts of supply firearm to person unauthorised to possess it and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
Police will allege in court that the man was involved in facilitating the acquisitions and supply of prohibited firearms across NSW.
The Lilyfield man was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court today (Thursday 14 January 2021).
