Detectives investigate carjacking in Collingwood

Melbourne Embona Taskforce detectives are appealing for witnesses following a carjacking in Collingwood this morning.

Police have been told a man parked his car in a car park on Mason Street when he was approached by an unknown man just before 8am.

The man produced a tomahawk and made demands for the victim's car.

The victim, a man aged in his 60s ran from the scene and raised the alarm.

The offender fled the scene in the victim's car, a red Holden GTS sedan, registration BASH17.

He was last seen travelling along Mason Street.

Investigators are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone in the area at the time of the incident.
