Detectives Investigate Richmond Sexual Assault

Melbourne Sexual Offences & Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify a man following a sexual assault in Richmond on Tuesday.

It is understood an unknown man approached a woman as she was walking from her car on Victoria Street about 10.15am on 27 February.

Investigators were told the man proceeded to follow the woman for about 50 metres and attempted to engage her in conversation, before grabbing her arm.

The woman entered a nearby gym, before the man crossed to the other side of Victoria Street.

A few minutes later, the man approached a second woman before sexually assaulting her outside a licenced premises.

After the assault, the man fled the scene towards Church Street.

Investigators have released an image of a man that may be able to assist them with their enquiries.

He is described as being Aboriginal in appearance, aged 40-50 years old, is approximately 165cms tall, with a medium build.

He was wearing long pants, shoes, a chequered shirt, dark sunglasses, and a two-toned fluoro and black 'Everlast' baseball cap.
