Detectives Seek Tips After Child Sexual Offense Charges

Detectives from the Redcliffe Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU) are appealing for public assistance following the arrest of a 50-year-old Deception Bay man in connection with alleged child sexual offences in the Brisbane City and Redcliffe areas.

Police will allege that on two separate occasions, on 9 June and 28 June, the man approached a 15-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl near Roma Street railway station before travelling with them by train to Deception Bay, where offences allegedly occurred.

The 50-year-old Deception Bay man has been charged with multiple child sexual offences and drug offences, and has been remanded in custody, due to appear before the Caboolture Magistrates Court on 29 July.

Redcliffe CPIU Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Kate Mitchell said investigators believe there may be additional victims and urged anyone with information to come forward.

"The alleged nature and circumstances of this offending are extremely concerning, particularly as we believe there may be other victims who have not yet been identified," Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mitchell said.

"While the man is no longer in the community, we are appealing to anyone who may have experienced similar behaviour, or who has information about similar incidents in the Brisbane City or Deception Bay areas, to contact police."

"Even the smallest piece of information could prove valuable and assist investigators with their inquiries."
