Detectives seek witness to serious assault

Detectives would like to speak to a man who risked his own safety to come to the aid of an assault victim at Smithfield last month.

About 5.45pm on Monday 25 April, emergency services were called to the Smithfield Hotel on Main North Road after reports of a serious assault.

A 47-year-old Craigmore man sustained serious facial injuries and was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The following day, Northern District Detectives arrested a 53-year-old man from Elizabeth Grove. He was charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault causing serious harm.

The man pictured, whose face is blurred to protect his identity, came to the assistance of the victim and may have information that could assist the investigation. He is asked to contact police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
