October is the perfect opportunity to Detox Your Home.
Sustainability Victoria's Detox Your Home is a safe, free and easy-to-use service allowing residents to dispose of common, highly toxic chemicals without impacting their health or the environment.
As part of Detox Your Home 2022, residents can drop off approved chemicals for free at the Mildura Landfill and Transfer Station on Saturday 1 October between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Councillor for Environment and Sustainability Jason Modica said the annual initiative was a great opportunity for residents to conduct a 'spring clean' of old or unused chemicals at their homes.
"All of us probably have the odd container or bottle of chemicals that's been sitting at the back of their laundry cupboard or in their shed that we've been meaning to get rid of, and Detox Your Home is the perfect opportunity to do this easily, safely and for free," Cr Modica said.
"By doing so it will not only provide a convenient and free way to dispose of unneeded chemicals, but importantly, it serves as a timely reminder that chemicals should never be disposed of in kerbside bins, or poured down the drain."
Residents can drop off items including:
- Cleaning chemicals
- Cosmetics
- Fire extinguishers
- Fertilisers
- Pesticides
- Pool chemicals such as chlorine
- Brake fluid
- Coolants.
Detox Your Home events are for household items only. Businesses should use specialised commercial waste disposal services to dispose of chemicals.
