The City of Hobart is thrilled to welcome a new star to this year's City of Hobart Myer Christmas Pageant – Rum'un, the Tasmania Football Club's cheeky Tasmanian devil mascot.

Making their first appearance in the Pageant, Rum'un has already captured the hearts of children across the state, and now they are set to bring his devilish charm to the streets of Hobart.

Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds said Rum'un's debut was a fun addition to the much-loved event.

Now in its 43rd year, the free event will take place on Saturday 22 November from 10.30am to 12pm, marking the official start of Hobart's Christmas season.

The Pageant will feature around 50 community groups and organisations, with colourful floats, multicultural performances, dance schools, marching bands, sporting clubs, and beloved children's entertainer Zindzi & the Zillionaires leading the festivities.

Thousands of people are expected to line the streets of the city centre to enjoy the parade and kick off the holiday season in true Hobart style.

Quotes to be attributed to Hobart Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds:

"Rum'un has been a huge hit with kids all over Tasmania, and we're delighted to have them join the Myer City of Hobart Christmas Pageant for the first time.

"They, along with children's entertainer Zindzi & the Zillionaires, Santa and all the other fun entrants will be really exciting for all the children coming along on Saturday.

"The Christmas Pageant is a such a fun and colourful tradition that brings our community together."

Quotes to be attributed to Tasmania Football Club Head of Marketing Ella Scott:

"Rum'un's energy is infectious, and we're so excited to be part of this year's Myer City of Hobart Christmas Pageant.

"Community is at the heart of what we do and why we exist, so taking part in the Pageant is incredibly meaningful for us.

"I know Rum'un will bring even more smiles to families lining the streets and spread some Devilish Christmas cheer along the way."
