We've officially flicked the switch on the lighting upgrade at Diamond Creek Netball Courts.

Mayor Ben Ramcharan and Councillors joined Eltham MP Vicki Ward and members of the Nillumbik Force Netball Association for the official launch of the lighting upgrade at the courts in Diamond Creek.

Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan said the $330,000 LED lighting upgrade would provide brighter lighting for games and training that is more energy efficient.

"We're committed to providing high-quality, inclusive sport and recreation facilities in the Shire," Cr Ramcharan said.

"The Diamond Creek Netball Courts are now a premier sporting destination in Melbourne's north. The lighting upgrade builds on the significant investment by both Council and the Victorian Government into the courts over the past two years including a new pavilion, and the resurfacing of the eight netball courts."

Ellis Ward Councillor Peter Perkins said the upgrade would be a huge benefit to the 1000 -plus members of the Nillumbik Force Netball Association.

"I would like to thank the association volunteers for the incredible amount of work they have done over many years to completely transform this venue for the people of Diamond Creek and beyond," Cr Perkins said.

The courts are one of five sporting grounds across the Shire to receive lighting upgrades thanks to almost $1.5 million in funding from the Victorian Government's Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program. Council has contributed $150,000 to the five projects which also include the Diamond Hills Reserve, Bridge Street Oval in Eltham, Eltham Lower Park front oval and the Hurstbridge High Oval in Graysharps Road.
