Digging Deep For New Insights Into Ancient Societies

What's new in ancient languages and societies? For faculty in Yale's Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, quite a lot - driven by their dedication to continued research and in-the-field findings.

Professors Harvey Weiss, John Darnell, and Nadine Moeller, all in Yale's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, regularly travel to archaeological sites with teams of students to do their own fieldwork.

"You're discovering new data for research for future generations," said Moeller. "It's adding new materials, new knowledge, new pieces to the puzzle."

The projects they are currently involved in are pinpointed on this interactive map. Explore each location to learn what they've uncovered.
