Disturbance arrests in Loganholme, QLD

Detectives have arrested nine people following investigations into a disturbance involving multiple people at a shopping centre in Loganholme on Monday, February 4.

It will be alleged around 4.30pm a group of men were involved in an altercation in the Leda Drive carpark of the shopping complex.

During the incident it will be alleged a 27-year-old man, armed with a machete, was shot in the leg and a steel grate was smashed through the windscreen of a silver 2005 Mazda Tribute SUV.

A white 2010 Toyota Aurion sedan, allegedly linked to the incident, was later found burnt out in bushland at Chambers Flat.

Following the incident, significant investigations were undertaken by the Logan Criminal Investigation Branch, supported by the State Crime Command.

On February 6, the 27-year-old man was located in the Logan Hospital where he was seeking treatment for a non-life-threatening wound to his leg.

He was charged with going armed so as to cause fear and wilful damage, relating the removal of a GPS tracking ankle bracelet. He appeared in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court yesterday and was remanded in custody to reappear in the same court on March 13.

Search warrants were executed at residences this morning where seven members of the Logan Rebels have been arrested for alleged offences including acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm whilst a participant of a criminal organisation and affray.

Additionally, a 32-year-old Mount Cotton man, the alleged president of the Logan Rebels, was arrested in Darwin for the same offences and habitually consorting. The Queensland Police Service is seeking his extradition to Queensland today.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who was at the shopping complex and witnessed the events or anyone with information to come forward.

Operations Commander of the Organised Crime Gangs Group Detective Superintendent Roger Lowe said the arrests were a culmination of significant police investigations.

"The Queensland Police Service is focused on keeping our community safe and these arrests are a result of extensive police investigations conducted this week," Detective Superintendent Lowe said.

"Violence involving gangs particularly in public spaces will not be tolerated. We know that individuals within this gang are not just motorcycle enthusiasts gathering for a good time, they represent a criminal organisation and as evident in this incident have little regard for public safety."
