Local residents and regional visitors are one step closer to enjoying an upgraded Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre, with construction now underway at the facility.

The works will see an extension of the grandstand with more seating and new weather protection measures, as well as the renovation and modernisation of the current café.

With more than 176,000 visitors to the facility in the past 12 months, these upgrades will enhance the experience for the growing number of people using the centre each year.

"Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre is a cornerstone facility for our swimming community, both locally and regionally, and this upgrade will benefit not only the Campbelltown LGA, but the Macarthur area as well," said Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Darcy Lound.

"This is an investment to ensure the experience of everyone who walks through the doors at Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre is comfortable, high-quality, and enjoyable," said Cr Lound.

"Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre is an iconic community facility and this upgrade will provide significant benefit to the thousands of visitors from Campbelltown and our region more broadly," said Member for Campbelltown, Mr Greg Warren.

The Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre upgrade is proudly Funded by the NSW Government through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.
