Do Something For You This October

Mount Gambier Library is proud to present a special program of events in recognition of Mental Health Month, inviting the community to come together to connect and explore in one of the many activities planned for October 2025.

"Mental health isn't just about the tough times; it's about building meaningful connections throughout life's pivotal moments. We have designed a program of events to spark conversation, with a focus on awareness, resilience and purposeful play, with something for everyone," City of Mount Gambier Community Development Coordinator Kristi Brooks said.

Highlights include meditation sessions presented by Craig Smith, Accredited Teacher of Mindfulness, a social sing-along led by local musicians Hunter n Scout, a silent book club where you can enjoy the calm connection of reading together in silence, sand mandalas, 3D printed fidgets to help reduce stress and improve focus, a gratitude wall, an information session presented by Mount Gambier Medical Mental Health Centre and much more.

For those looking for something a little different, the Mount Gambier Library will showcase a Tovertafel for the community to explore purposeful play either as individuals or community organisations.

"The Tovertafel is an award-winning healthcare innovation; a portable machine that projects interactive games specifically designed for people with diverse needs. Whether it's stimulating social-emotional learning or increasing alertness and focus, purposeful play can bring people together regardless of their cognitive level or physical abilities".

The Tovertafel will be available to the community to from 1 to 7 October 2025 during Library opening hours. Individuals are welcome to pop by anytime, and organisations are welcome to bring in groups with prior notice.
