Doco features Vanuatu Choir sharing culture

In celebration of the 2019 International Year of Indigenous Languages, NITV has produced a moving documentary about the Vanuatu Soul Harvest Gospel Choir's Australian tour, where they shared their language and culture.

In a collaboration between the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the organisers of the Desert Song Festival, the women's choir was invited to perform in Brisbane, Alice Springs and Canberra.

NITV's Karla Grant spent time with the 22-strong ensemble during the cultural exchange and has produced an insightful documentary about Soul Harvest's Australian tour, where they won many new fans.

As well as singing in their language, Nakanamanga, they also performed new songs in the Western Arrernte language, Pitjantjatjarra, and English at the 10-day Desert Song Festival, culminating in a performance with the Central Australian Aboriginal Women's Choir and Soweto Gospel Choir.

Soul Harvest rounded off the tour with a performance at Parliament House in Canberra.
