Doctors support Labor nurse clinics

The Doctors Reform Society today supported the proposal from NSW Labor to establish nurse staffed clinics to deal with minor health problems in emergency clinics.

"NSW hospital emergency departments are overworked and understaffed resulting in long waiting times for sick patients. The Labor partys proposal to establish ïntegrated nurse staffed clinics to take some of the load of minor medical problems away from emergency departments is a good proposal that many doctors will support.Said Dr Con Costa President NSW Doctors Reform Society
"Many of the people attending emergency departments for minor medical problems are there because they cant find a bulk billing GP because many GPs in NSW have stopped bulk billing as a result of the federal governments freeze on Medicare rebates."said Dr Robert Marr spokesman NSW Doctors Reform Society
