Arab least developed countries (LDCs) and the State of Palestine continue to face capacity, coordination and financing challenges that hinder progress towards global development commitments. The Doha Programme of Action (DPoA) (2022-2031) provides a framework to accelerate sustainable development, but stronger national systems are needed to translate its priorities into measurable results.
On 4 and 5 August, ESCWA organized in Amman a regional workshop on "Strengthening the Capacity of Arab LDCs and Palestine for the Implementation and Monitoring of the Doha Programme of Action", in collaboration with UN-OHRLLS and ECA. The workshop brought together national teams from the Arab LDCs, Mauritania, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen as well as the State of Palestine.
Participants learned more on the requirements for implementing the DPoA, the methodology for monitoring progress and preparing national reports, and key milestones leading up to the DPoA midterm review, scheduled to take place in Doha in March 2027.
