Dolphin Point Footpath Works Begin This Week

Work on the Dolphin Point Road footpath in Dolphin Point will begin on Friday 12 September, starting with tree clearing for the two-metre wide path.

The footpath is being delivered under NSW Government funding aimed to better connect communities through cycling and walking infrastructure.

Mayor Patricia White said Council voted last month to appoint local contractor Vogue Landscape and Civil for the project.

"Locals will be happy to see progress being made on this footpath which will provide a safer connection between the Lions Park at Burrill Lake and Seaside Parade," Cr White said.

"This is just one of six footpaths Council is delivering across the Shoalhaven under NSW Government funding to promote more physical activity," she said.

"Dolphin Point is a popular beachside suburb that attracts both visitors and locals so this new path will really add great benefit to the community."

Member for South Coast, Liza Butler said it is a fantastic project that will make a real difference to the way locals and visitors move around Dolphin Point.

"Whether it's families heading to the beach, kids riding their bikes, or people walking for fitness or leisure, this new path will provide a much safer and more accessible connection for everyone," Ms Butler said.

"The NSW Government's investment of over $5 million for footpaths and shared user paths across the Shoalhaven is about more than just infrastructure – it's about creating connected, healthy and vibrant communities."

The footpath project has been divided into two stages following the discovery of a probable Aboriginal heritage object at the project site. Council is undertaking further investigation and seeking an Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit for this area located near the Lions Club Park. Work on this stage two section will likely begin in 2026.

Work on stage one extends from Dolphin Point Tourist Park to Seaside Parade and could be completed by the end of the year, weather permitting. Watermain relocation works have already begun.

In addition to Dolphin Point, Council has received $5 million under NSW Government funding to deliver footpaths in Bawley Point, Callala Bay, Myola, Narrawallee and Nowra.
