Domestic Gas Reservation Bill: Have Your Say

Dept of Industry, Science and Resources

The legislation will establish a Domestic Gas Reservation Scheme (DGRS) and implement market reforms to secure affordable and reliable gas supply for Australians. This will support the government's Future Made in Australia agenda.

The DGRS Bill is in response to the 2025 Gas Market Review.

Earlier consultations on the draft design framework received over 140 submissions. That feedback helped inform the policy and design settings for the DGRS and market reforms.

Our department and the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) are now consulting on the package of legislation. This includes:

  • Domestic Gas Reservation Bill
  • Consequential Amendments Bill, including changes to the Gas Market Code
  • Levy Bill.

Your feedback will inform final draft legislation for the government to consider.
