Domestic Violence Charges After Sunnybank Hills PSPA Declared

Acacia Ridge detectives have charged a 25-year-old man with domestic violence related offences following the emergency declaration in Sunnybank Hills on Friday (January 27).

The local man has been charged with one count each of torture, deprivation of liberty and contravention of domestic violence order (DV offences), as well as three counts of serious assault police.

Police attended the Bradman Street address around 10am in relation to a welfare check.

It will be alleged a man and woman were barricaded inside a bathroom with police declaring an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act with negotiators and specialist police responding.

The man was taken into custody shortly after 2.30pm. The woman was transported to hospital for observation.

The man remains in custody and is expected to appear at Richlands Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, January 30).
