Doughnut miss chance to make holiday art at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery

Get hands on at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery these school holidays at the Ken Done-nut Shop this week.

The interactive pop-up has been inspired by the artist's bright and colourful exhibition Paintings You Probably Haven't Seen.

Community and Cultural Development Committee Chairperson, Councillor Colleen Doyle, said the activity was a great way to get kids involved in art these school holidays.

"We all know that art exhibitions are wonderful to come and see, but encouraging kids to get hands-on and create their own works of art is a fantastic way to give them a more comprehensive art experience," Cr Doyle said.

"In this pop-up kids will be able to roll and glaze their own Ken Done-nuts from paper-based clay, which I'm sure will create some really interesting pieces."

Paintings You Probably Haven't Seen is the first Done solo exhibition hosted in Townsville.

A lot of the paintings feature the things that Done loves best, including the beach and the reef, which resonates strongly with tropical audiences.

The Ken Done-nut Shop will be open from 13 to 17 January from 10am to midday.

Entry to Perc Tucker Regional Gallery is free.
