Tasmanian Labor
  • Shadow Health Minister ready to debate key election issue of health anywhere, anytime
  • Liberal Party has overseen 7 years of health and hospital chaos
  • Labor's comprehensive Health Action Plan will solve Tasmania's health crisis
  • Shadow Health Minister Dr Bastian Seidel has thrown down the gauntlet to Peter Gutwein, Sarah Courtney and the Liberal Party, challenging them to a debate on the key election issue of health.

Dr Seidel said he would be available to debate them anywhere, anytime.

"I am more than willing to put my years of record as a doctor up against Peter Gutwein, Sarah Courtney and their army of advisors," Dr Seidel said.

"The Liberal Party has overseen seven years of chaos and dysfunction in our health system which is putting the lives of Tasmanians at risk.

"Tens of thousands of people are on waitlists, we have the worst ambulance ramping crisis in the country and people in regional and rural areas do not have access to basic health care when they need it.

"And it has all happened on the Liberal party's watch."

Dr Seidel said the Labor Party had unveiled a suite of policies over the past five days that would solve the Liberal's health crisis.

"Our Health Action Plan will clear the outpatient and elective surgery waitlist, end Ambulance ramping at our hospitals and provide 24/7 paramedic coverage across the state.

"We will hire more nurses, more doctors and more paramedics and deliver more beds.

"Our holistic approach will provide support for our hard-working health staff and restore the public's confidence in the health system."
