A draft master plan to help protect and enhance Warrnambool's Wild Coast has been released for public comment.
At its Monday night meeting Council voted to release the Draft Wild Coast Landscape Master Plan, developed after consultation with the community last year.
The purpose of the master plan is to help identify, protect and enhance the environmental and cultural heritage values of Warrnambool's Wild Coast, a 230ha area that stretches about 3km from the western edge of the Warrnambool Golf Club to the western boundary of the Warrnambool municipality.
This includes the Crown Land areas known as Levy's Point Coastal Reserve and part of Thunder Point Coastal Reserve.
The Wild Coast faces pressures associated with population growth, climate change and growth in visitor numbers.
"This is a really popular and important area for many Warrnambool residents and visitors," Cr Vicki Jellie said.
"I would encourage everyone who loves this part of Warrnambool to read the draft master plan and let us know what you think.
"We'll use the feedback to inform a review of the draft before a final master plan is brought to an open Council meeting for consideration."
The Wild Coast Precinct Landscape Master Plan project, funded by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and initiated by Warrnambool City Council, expands on the findings and recommendations of policies and strategies including Warrnambool Coastal Management Plan (2013), Green Warrnambool (2018), the Warrnambool Coastal Vegetation Management Plan (2012), the Marine and Coastal Policy (2020) and the Belfast Coastal Reserve Management Plan (2018).

The survey closes on March 30, 2020.
People can also have a say at one of two drop-in sessions to be held on March 17 at the Pavilion, Viaduct Rd, Warrnambool. The first session is from 2pm to 4pm and the second session from 5pm to 7pm.
