Corangamite Shire Council is giving young people access to professional, industry-level drama training right in their own region.

DramaFest SouthWest is a series of workshops for school students, led by Jennifer Monk who is an award-winning actor, director, writer, and producer with over 20 years' experience across theatre, film, television, and digital series.

"These hands-on, high-energy sessions are designed to build confidence, spark creativity, and develop real performance skills," Acting Director Sustainable Development Katy McMahon said.

"These workshops are open to primary and secondary students. No drama experience is needed.

"Whether you're a theatre regular or just drama-curious, this is your moment to jump in and have fun."

Three sessions will be held for different age groups at the Killara Centre in Camperdown.

Drama Club is for children from Prep to Year 2. A playful, supportive class full of theatre games, storytelling, character play, scene building, and dress-ups, it is designed to build confidence and creativity.

Drama Lab is for students from Years 3 – 6. It's a dynamic, hands-on workshop exploring theatre games, improvisation, character work, and scene creation.

Acting Studio is a workshop for high school students to learn acting techniques including voice, body, character development, monologues and scenes.

"There are to stand-alone sessions in each group, Ms McMahon said.

"While it would be beneficial for students to attend both classes, it's not required."
