Drink driver caught at North Adelaide, South Australia

A driver has been arrested and his licence cancelled after a brief pursuit in North Adelaide overnight.

Just before 1am on Thursday 25 April, patrols spotted a Mitsubishi sedan travelling at speed along Main North Road and attempted to pull it over.

The driver refused and the car travelled through the intersection of Fitzroy Terrace and Main North Road disobeying the traffic lights.

The car then turned left into Carter Street and stopped.

The 39-year-old driver from Rosewater was breath tested and returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.162, more than three times the legal limit.

He has been charged with drink driving and disobeying traffic lights and is expected to be bailed to appear in court at a later date.

His car was also impounded for 28 days and he was issued with an immediate 12 month loss of licence.
