Drink driver detected in Hampton Park

Cranbourne police detected a drink driver in Hampton Park on Monday night.

A Toyota Camry was intercepted at the intersection of Manning Close and Pound Road about 8.30pm.

The male driver underwent a preliminary breath test and was subsequently conveyed to a nearby police station where he returned an alleged evidentiary breath test reading of .290.

The 52-year-old's licence was immediately suspended, and his car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1005.

The man is expected to be charge on summons with drink driving and other traffic related offences.

This intercept and impound forms part of Operation Saturn, a two-and-a-half-week state-wide road policing operation.

The operation commenced on Thursday, 22 October and aims to prevent further trauma on our roads caused by dangerous driving in both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. It focuses on increased traffic on rural roads, drink and drug driving, seatbelt compliance and driving slowly.

Operation Saturn will run from 12.01am on Thursday 22 October to 11.59pm on Sunday 8 November 2020.
