Drink driver grounded in Ferntree Gully

A drink driver has been arrested after police spotted an airborne vehicle in Ferntree Gully this morning (1 October), Victoria Police say.

Knox police officers noticed the Ford Falcon allegedly travelling erratically through a roundabout on Mountain Gate Drive at the intersection of Hancock Drive about 12.40am.

Police attempted to intercept the car but it failed to stop, with a short pursuit initiated.

Not long after, the car crashed into a concrete barrier on Parkview Drive, with two males exiting the car.

The driver allegedly fled the scene and was arrested by police following a short foot pursuit.

The 21-year-old Ferntree Gully man underwent a preliminary breath test, returning a positive reading.

He was taken back to the police station, where he returned an alleged reading of .108.

The man has been charged with a number of traffic offences, including dangerous driving while being pursued and drink driving.

He has been bailed to appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

His passenger, a 25-year-old Ringwood man, was released without charge.
