Drink driver intercepted in Ivanhoe

Greensborough Highway Patrol officers intercepted a drink driver in Ivanhoe overnight.

Police allegedly saw a Mitsubishi ASX wagon travelling at 112km/h along a 60km/h section of Burke Road North about 1.50am.

The car was intercepted, and the male driver underwent a preliminary breath test.

He accompanied police officers to a station where he returned an evidentiary result of 0.105.

The 27-year-old Mill Park man had his license immediately suspended for 12 months.

He is expected to be charged on summons for traffic offences including excessive speed and drink driving.

Police have been conducting more roadside alcohol testing across the state over the Melbourne Cup long weekend.

As part of Operation Furlong, motorists are being urged to completely separate their drinking and driving behaviour.
