Drink driver intercepted in Surrey Hills

A Mont Albert man will have to find an alternative means of transport after his car was impounded in Surrey Hills on Monday.

Public Order Response Team officers were patrolling Mont Albert Road about 2am on 13 November.

They noticed a BMW M3 driving erratically and decided to intercept the vehicle and speak to the driver.

The driver, a 44-year-old man, pulled his car over and underwent a preliminary breath test.

Police requested he attend a station for an evidentiary test where he returned a sample of 0.156.

His car was impounded with towing costs of $896 and his licence was immediately suspended.

He is expected to be charged on summons for drink driving related offences.
