Driver arrested after stolen plates found on car, SA

Police have arrested a man after he was caught driving a car with stolen number plates overnight in the southern suburbs, according to SA Police.

Just before 2am on Saturday 16 September, a patrol in an unmarked car spotted a Camry sedan travelling at high speed along Main South Road at O’Hallaran Hill.

The car was seen to turn left onto Marion Road and then into Penfold Street where it was seen to side swipe a Honda sedan parked on the side of the road.

The driver, a 30-year-old from Northfield was arrested and is currently at the Flinders Medical Centre being medically assessed.

He is expected to be charged with unlawful possession, drive without due care, drive unlicensed (never held), drive contrary to defect, driver unregistered and uninsured and possess a controlled drug after a small bag of amphetamine was found on him following a search.

A passenger in the car at the time was spoken to by police and released without charge.
