Driver Charged After Fatal Hornsby Pedestrian Crash

A man will face court today charged after a pedestrian died in Sydney's north west.

Shortly after 8pm yesterday (Friday 14 November 2025), emergency services responded to reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle at the entrance of a carpark on George Street, Hornsby.

Police will allege a Kia Carnival was struck from behind by a BMW causing it to crash into the pedestrian.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the 33-year-old female pedestrian, who was eight months pregnant, at the scene. She was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition where she and the unborn baby later died.

The driver of the BMW – a 19-year-old man – and the driver of the Kia Carnival – a 48-year-old man – were not injured.

Both drivers were taken to Hornsby Hospital for mandatory testing.

No other occupants were in the vehicles.

Officers from Ku-Ring-Gai Police Area Command established a crime scene that was examined by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

About 12.45am today (Saturday 15 November 2025), the 19-year-old man was arrested at a home in Millewa Avenue, Wahroonga, and taken to Hornsby Police Station.

He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death) and cause loss of foetus – death of pregnant woman.

He was refused bail and will appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 15 November 2025).
