Driver Charged in Wentworth Falls Crash

A driver will face court after a rider was taken to a hospital as a result of two vehicle crash in the Blue Mountains area last week.

About 3pm on Saturday 28 June 2025, emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway, near Tableland Road, Wentworth Falls, following reports of a van and a motorcycle collision.

Officers attached to Blue Mountains Police Area Command and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended the scene and the rider – a 28-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of a Mercedes van – a 52-year-old man was taken to Katoomba Hospital for a mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established, and police commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, the driver of the Mercedes van was taken to Katoomba Police Station where he was charged with cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle, and negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm).

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Katoomba Local Court on Monday 7 July 2025.
