Driver detained after crash at Mile End, South Australia

A Northern suburbs man will be charged with driving offences after a car rolled and caused damage to utilities in Mile End this morning.

Just after 3am on Monday 12 November, a dog operations patrol stopped the driver of a red Holden Commodore on South Road for faulty tail lights.

The driver stopped the car and as the police officer walked up to the car to speak to the driver, he sped off heading north on South Road. The driver attempted a right hand turn onto Henley Beach Road however he failed to negotiate the corner and rolled the vehicle.

The car colliding with a gas and water meter before ending up on its roof. The two occupants were extracted from the car and taken by ambulance crews to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The 27-year-old driver, a man from Modbury North and a 23-year-old woman from Hillcrest who was a passenger in the vehicle are currently speaking with police.

The driver is likely to be charged with driving offences including driving without a licence and driving without due care.
