Driver dies after single-vehicle crash near Wauchope

A driver has died, and her passenger seriously injured after a single vehicle crash on the state's Mid North Coast overnight.

About 12.30am this morning (Monday 25 January 2021), emergency services were called to King Creek Road, King Creek, near Wauchope, following reports a Holden Calais sedan had crashed into a power pole.

The driver – a 38-year-old woman from Wauchope – died at the scene.

The front seat passenger – a 41-year-old woman also from Wauchope – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Mid North Coast Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

As inquiries continue, anyone with dashcam vision or who may have been in the area at the time of the incident is urged to contact Port Macquarie police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
